Saqib Bhatti was the youngest President in the entire history of the Greater Birmingham Chamber of Commerce. An accountant by trade he took up the post in 2018. His political career began by forming the group Muslims for Britain in 2016 to encourage support for Leaving the European Union at the referendum that year. In 2019 he was selected for the neighbouring seat of Meriden after Caroline Spelman stepped down beating former Number 10 advisor Nick Timothy in the final.
Since entering Parliament he has been made a Parliamentary Private Secretary for the Health Secretary Sajid Javid and has been awarded an MBE in the 2020 New Year’s Honours.
