Howard spent 20 years in financial services before moving to lecturing, teaching economics and business in the locally. He lives in the centre of Dunchurch and is proud to serve the area. He was elected to Rugby Borough Council in 2008 and is the longest serving Councillor in the Dunsmore Ward. Howard was also elected to Warwickshire County Council in 2013 and is the Cabinet member for the Environment at Rugby Borough Council where he has responsibility for refuse collection, recycling, and protection and enhancement of the local environment. He is a keen cricket fan and supporter of the regional Air Ambulance Service.
Howard has successfully secured funding for many local organisations. Ryton Star Football Club has received £1000 to support its work with village youngsters and Howard secured £1,050 for Marton Parish Council’s “Growing Healthier Together” scheme. through his Councillor's Grant £506.09 was granted to Leam Valley First Responders and his intervention secured £1,120 for Stretton’s Village Hall extension project. Howard's scheme has also granted £1,300 to the valuable Dunchurch Community Speed Watch Programme.
